I was wondering the same whwn it comes to attacking women more than men. I am also pregnant, so I am wondering if that causes even more of a reaction/ideal host. I know I read that diff people have diff reactions based on their bodies & immune systems, etc. Currently, my boyfriend has been dreadful throughout my entire battle. He got bit ONCE and decided we needed a hotel for the night after I suffered for months with no recognition. In 4 short months, this has torn my life apart. What I want to know is if you still see the actual mites crawling around? I had a bird nest in my walls in April and May then the mites were all through my bedroom visibly on the walls and I started cleaning ferociously at that time. Eventually, I couldnt see them anymore but warned him, my landlord, & family that once the birds left the nest they would disperse everywhere. Sure enough about 2-3 weeks later I was getting viciously attacked throughout my entire apartment and I was carrying a lint roller with me everywhere. As soon as I felt biting ID lint roll the area and there were tiny specks every single time I did. Unfortunately, I hadnt bought a microscope yet at the time. I had to eat on my front porch where I wasnt getting bit until Eventually, the porch became infested BAD. I would sit and get attacked nonstop every second. The lint roller came up with the same specks. Eventually I found out they could be transparent as well. Up until then I only knew them to be a darker color but this was after feeding. I dont get bit now & havent for some time but I still feel crawling at times and I absolutely have something in my nostrils, eyebrows, and eyelashes. I am wondering if this is still bird mites or an aftermath result because demodex mites came after showering constantly and changing skin conditions. No one understands and I am having my baby and I dont know what to do. I dont know how to clean my stuff that is covered in the tiny specks I mentioned earlier. Its a nightmare. No one understands.

By the way, the specks never appeared to be moving.

Recommended Treatment Provider

We recommend you use a licensed professional to address a bird mite problem. Don’t wait or the problem will get much worse and more expensive to treat. We have a list of pest control companies that are specifically qualified to treat bird mites.

  • They come to your house for no charge and give a free estimate.
  • Even if you decide not to use them, you get free professional advice.
  • Most pest control companies have never dealt with bird mites before. You need to use a bird mite specialist.

Follow this link to find a Qualified Local Exterminator near you.

Keep in mind that if bird mites are not treated correctly, even if the correct chemicals are used, they can become resistant to those chemicals. Don’t use a pest control company unless they have extensive experience treating bird mites.

Also, many of our readers have followed up with (or used outright) natural solutions and pesticide-free, such as on our Treatments Protocols page Follow this link to that page.
